The House of Tiles is delighted to present our latest tile collection – C_MINE. This collection presents the much sought after combination of contemporary design possibilities that give a nod to traditional authenticity and nostalgia.
The name C_MINE is, in fact, a tribute to an abandoned coal mining complex which sits just outside the city of Genk in Belgium. This complex inspired the design of the tile in a number of ways. First off, the Genk coal mining complex has gone from being just another one of those abandoned and almost forgotten former industrial hives, to a modern cultural centre, famed for presenting innovative creativity and art forms to the public, all of which fuse history and tradition with contemporary style and design. This is what C_MINE aspires to do. Second, the aged bricks, metals and concrete blocks that still adorn this location are very evocative when lit up at night, revealing a flawed surface that creates an atmospheric and a unique ambience which is not only original and authentic, but quite unforgettable. And so now we understand the basis upon which C_MINE was created.
